WILL NOT FIGHT.
AMERICA ACCEPTS GER MAN ASSURANCES.
ZEPPELIN BROUGHT DOWN
FOUR MORE REBELS SHOT
To-day’s cables indicate that America’s wounded feelings have been salved, and there is every probability of Germany's assurances not to offend again being accepted. America’s hide may not be quite as thick as that of a rhinoceros, but her wounds heal very rapidly. There is marked activity on the western front, and the fact that the civilian population are reported to be leaving Metz indicates that an early offensive is contemplated. It will probably be remembered that it was stated that the German attack on Verdun was made to anticipate an attack by the Allies on Metz. The authorities are dealing firmly with the position in Ireland, and four more rebels have been shot. Per Press Association —Copyright.
