GRADING OF TEACHERS.

MERIT TO COUNT. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This day. At the annual meeting 1 of the Educational Institute to-day the Hon. Mr Hanan announced that it was his intention to introduce, and if possible carry into operation this year, a new scheme for the grading of teachers. For many years, he said, he had felt that some national scheme was essential in order that merit in connection jvith appointments and promotions in the teaching profession should he recognised. He was determined that the grading scheme should come out this year.
