THE EGG INDUSTRY.

(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This day. At the annual conference of the Poultry Association the secretary submitted a report on the past year’s operations. The industry, lie said, had been put to a severe test hy the high price of feed, etc., but the worst was now over, and producers looked forward to a better time. The heavy importation of eggs was due to a mistaken estimate of the production in New Zealand. It had been a very serious matter, as eggs in abundance had been produced in the Dominion. The industry was now making rapid progress. One firm whose turnover for poultrymen’s products five years ago was £OOOO had brought the amount up to £17,000, and this year it would easily, pass £20,000.
