The street oar msn at Winnipeg are expected to strike ou May Ist. Land in the vioinity of Feilding has been changing hands at £SO au aore for dairying purposes. A 12lb nugget found at Ebagoolah, North Queensland, yielded £220 worth of gold. An empty tram oar oollided with a laden oar at Raudwiok. Seven people were slightly injured. The King will entertain at Buckingham Palace, on May 22nd, the delegates to the Imperial Conference. Many farmers in the South are being prosecuted for breaohei of the Noxious Weeds and Rabbit Acts. In one Court alone some twenty charges were heard, fines being imposed in eaoh case. The Melbourne polioe arrested William Hall, who esoaped from custody nine years ago while serving a sentenoe for .burglary. He took refuge in New Zealand, aud part of the time was in gaol. Mr Fisher, addressing a farewell meeting, announced that the Government had decided that the transcontinental railway would be one of the first measures for next session.
