A Manifesto.
(Reoeived 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, Deoember 4 The Oouooil of Schools Proteotiou Committee has issued an important manifesto, urging all friends of national jtducation to prevent ecclesiasticism in (•curing the right of entry to oouncil schools.
Dr Clifford declares that the Government bad better fling the bill to the winds than yield further. The Daily Telegraph states that the majority of the Cabinet is prepared to increase grants to contracting out schools by 2s 6d. It is reported that the only optimists in the Cabinet are Messrs Asquith and Ruuoiman. The others are indifferent and some are hostila to a compromise. The Daily News .declares that th re would be no tears even if the bill disappeared.
