The visitor added that the nolicense party in Christchurch had opened a vigorous campuign, while the license party seemed to be doing nothing. The no-license party at its opening meeting three weeks ago appealed for £I2OO to defray the expenses of the coming campaign, and before the meeting dosed a sum of £l6O was handed in in cash and cheques. Referring to Ashburton, the visitor said he firmly believed that the next poll would see a reversion to license.
Give me a stoup of sparkling wine, Give me a song, a trusty friend, Give me the wiles of beauty’s smiles, And I’ll be happy to the eDd. But when the head with fever burns, And higher croeps the temperature, When chest is sore, and rest is o’er, Give me Woods’ Groat Peppermint Cure.
