(Own Correspondent.) At a meeting of the Cricket Club, held on Tuesday, it was decided to hold the annual dunce on tho evening of Easter Mouduy. Mr Vonablns was ap pointed secretary, the committee to consist of the member* of the club. A ladies’ committoe is to look after the refreshments. M mars D Milne and F. Sharpin wore appointod M’s.O. Cricket matches have boon arranged to be played hero on Gjod Friday and Saturday between the local club und two teams from Nopior. The weather still keens broken and rain has been falling off and on since Sunday afternoon, tho oonsequenco being that out door labour is practically at a standstill. From Saturday until to-day the rainfall was almost two inches. The friends of Mr G. Pirie will learn with regret that he is again seriously ill and an inmate of tho hospital. Mr David Thorax, of Ashburton, who died in the Melbourne Hospital, while on tour with tho New Zealand bowlers, lately acquired the property of Mr Jus O’Neill here, being part of the Maugatarata estate.
