Napier, Yesterday.

The Chamber of Commerce at their quarterly meeting to-day resolved to request tho members for the district to urge on tho Government the need for providing telephonic communication between Napier and Daunevirko. The cost of a new set of wires is the main argu merit of the Department agaiust the innovation.

The following is a list of the criminal casos so far sot down for hearing at the Supremo Court session opening on the 24th inst Edward Pointon, theft, Napier; John Smith and James Francis Maxwell, breaking and entering at Mohaka with intent to commit a crime; William Charles Williams, alias George Harper, false pretences, Napier; Joseph Marten, stealing horse, saddle and bridle, Nuhaka; Thomas Perry Peddle, assault, Pohu*; William Arthur Brock and Charles John Bartlett, breaking, ertering and theft, Port Ahuriri; Hugh bpiors and John Thompson, attempting to steal a watch and chain, Napier ; Earl Roberts, Charles Kluver, Harry Allison and Wiiliam Edward Robinson, carnally knowing a female under 15 years of ago at Hastings; David Charles Thorley, unlawfully wounding with intent, causing actual bodily harm, Hastings ; Henry Arrow, plaoing a spring gun in his garden at Waipawa with intent to inflict serious bodily harm on any person coming in contact therewith.
