Waipawa Racing Club.

The autumn meeting of the Waipawa Racing Club, which takes place tomorrow, promises to demonstrate the truth of the adage, “Nothing succeeds like success.” For some years the club had to struggle against adverse circumstances, and it proved a “ ding dong go ”to hold its own. Lately, however, there has been a turn of the tide, aud the last two prosperous seasons have placed the club in a position to increase its stakes and spend a substantial sum on improvements to the course. For to-morrow’s meeting the acceptances form a record in the history of the club, consequently some slashing racing should result, and large dividends reward those who are fortunate enough ta piok the winners. The goiDg has received every attention, and the course is in better condition than it has ever bocn. In fact, no country club in the province has a better track, and it has been rendered springy by the recent rain. Eighteen entries have been received for tbe Maiden, ten huve accepted for the Welter, a like number have oried content for the Autumn, five for the Stewards, nine for the Riversdale, and twelve for the Flying. Seventeen will compote in the Scurry, and ten have been entered for the Disposal. The bars will be under the direction of Mr Pellow, and Mr Christensen wi l have charge of the luncheon booth. Mr McCormack’s drags will meet the trains, and will run from the town to the courso at the moderate fare of Is. The business places will close at 11 a.m, so all will have au opportunity of seeing the first race, which starts at 12.10 p.m The following are my selections :
