Hunters Hurdles, If miles.—Hakarau lOst, 1 ; John Peel 10st, 2 ; Paroquet 10st 3. Also started—Flanagan, Van Tromp, Showman, Betty, Hikairoa, Stampede, Haerekama, Emerald Isle, and Tatoo. Hakarau led all the way and won by a length. Time 3min. 35seo. Dividends, £lO 10s and £1 9s.
Electric Handicap. Red Cross 1, Tekainui 2, St. Louis 3. Also started— Marsellaise, Truce, Tupano, Tiratu, Captain Kidd, Argiiia, Hippodora, Rimu and Spikie. Won by a length. Time, linin. 6 3-sth secs. Dividends, £8 16s aud 13s.
By to-day’s express an English setter pup bred by Mr Whittington, was sent to a fanoier at Milton, Otago. At Palmerston North, yesterday, the football match Australia v. Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay resulted as follows: Australia 7 points, Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay 5. Leading shots of the colony competed in a £IOO pigeon match at Marton on Tuesday. Out of 32 competitors T. Parker (Napier), the present champion, and Dr. Graham and T. Bamber, both of Wanganui, were the only three to kill all their birds, and they divided the prize.
