Commercial.
Waipukurau Stock. Sale. Williams and Kettle, Limited, report having held their fortnightly sale at Waipukurau on Tuesday, when offered 327 head of cattle and 1033 sheep. There was a small attendance of those interested. Beef was well represented by several lots of first-class bullocks and a few cows. Local market requirements were met by 89 head of beef, which sold at figures apparently in favor of buyers. Store cattle were largely represented by good young heifers, which, with the exception of one pen, were disposed of at prices lower than the rates at last sales. The following prices were realised : Beef.—Prime bullocks, freezers £7 108 to £8 78 6d, light-weight butchers’ bullocks £6 148, prime old cows Jfs 88 6d, maiden cows and heifers of exceptional quality £6 13s, half-finished cows £4 10s, 3-year-old heifers £4 ss, 27-mouth heifers £3 15s to £3 17s 6d, heifers of dairy sorts 15 to 18 months £3 15s, 15-month-old steers £3 7s 6d. Sheep.—Prime fat ewes 11s 7d to 12s 9d, store 2-tooth wethers 89 6d to 88 lOd, cull 3-tooth ewes 7s Bd. A few hacks were offered, only one of which found a new owner.
