Live Stock Market. At Palmerston there was a large entry of oattle, consisting chiefly of yearlings, 18-months cattle and heifers. Heifers were dull of Bale and buyers were not inclined to give prices asked. Young cattle sold readily, and a good clearance, with tiie exception of a few pens of heifers, was made. Sheep were again in short supply, and keenly competed for. Sheep—Fat and forward wethers 19s 3d, fat ewes 16s 6d, forward sheep 14s 2d, hoggets 11s 7d, small hoggets 8s 3d. Cattle steers £3 13s 6d, 18-month steers £4 2s to L 4 4s, yearling steers L 3 18s, yearling heifers L 3 4s, mixed yearlings L 3 14s 6d, mixed yearlings and weaners L2 12s 6d, 2-year steers L 4 6s 6d, cows in calf L 6 to LB. Messrs Williams and Kettle report on their Danevirke stock sales as follows :—We had a moderate entry of sheep and a full yarding of cattle in the pens. For the former there was a general advance in prioe, 4-tooth wethers making 16b 9d, mixed hoggets 11s Bd, f.m. ewes in lamb 16s. In cattle the bulk of the entry was made up of female stock. This class was easier throughout. Weaners and steers kept their value. Light fat oows £5 17s 6d to L 6, choice dairy heifers L 5 18s to L 6 15s, dairy cows L 5 4s, choice dairy cowb £7 10s, mixed weaners 34s 6d to 38s 6d, yearling to 20m05., £3 Is to £3 10s, steers £5 2s 6d to £5 7s. At Pahiatua the yarding was small. At Masterton there was a full yarding of advertised numbers. Bidding for cattle was somewhat easier than lately and sales were hard to effect. At Pahiatua —Sheep : 2-tooth ewes and wethers 12s 3d, ewes in lamb 13s 6d to 14s. Cattle—3-year steers L 6 ss, cows in calf L 5 to L 6 10s, fat cows L 6 to L 6 ss. We also sold privately ewes in lamb 11b to 14s 6d hoggets (best) 13s, others 10s 6dto 11s 6d. At Masterton—Fat wethers (best) LI Is, others 17s 4d to LI Os 9d, fat ewes (best) 18s 6d, others 12s lid to 16s, ewes in lamb (best) 13s 6d, medium sorts 12s to 12s 6d, inferior 8s 4d. Cattle —Fat eows L 6 to L 7 ss, forward cows L 4 10s to L 5 15s, 3year bullocks L 6 5s to L 6 10s, 3 and 4-year bullocks, L 7 Bs, station-bred heifers in calf L 6 10s.
