KAIKORA.

(Own Correspondent.) The public trial of the “ Crown ” first prize cream separator took place yesterday afternoon and was successful. Fifty-three persons were present, including fifteen ladies, who witnessed the separation of the cream from both heated and cold milk, the result being good in both cases. The secretary of the proposed creamery then gave all particulars concerning the cost of plant, etc. After reading the draft prospectus and later letters to hand, the business proper was entered into, that of promoting a company. It was stated that 40 more cows were offered, making a total of 120 now guaranteed. At the suggestion of a gentleman present, the draft proposal was modified somewhat, and the following resolution was carried That milk suppliers take one (£1) share for each cow guaranteed. As the site and buildings were already provided, it was urged that a capital of £3OO was sufficient to place the plant on the ground and fix it. The balance of the capital could be raised by ten guarantors (or more if need be) guaranteeing the amount to the bank. Four gentlemen in the room registered their names as guarantors for £ls each, and it was stated that two more will do so, leaving six more to complete the guaranteed amount. Votes of thanks were passed to Mesdames Leyland, Irwin, and Oliver for providing afternoon tea, and to the gentlemen who gave the trial of the separator, also to the chairman and others. All present appeared to believe that the launching of the industry was assured.
