STOCK MARKET. At Waverley 3 year steers made L 5 to £5 15s, springing heifers .£5, 2 year empty heifers £2 17s, yearling steers £2 3s. Sheep—Medium hoggets 11s 2d, forward wethers 15s 3d to 15s 6d. At Wanganui fresh bullocks £6 2s to £6 ss, 2£ year steers £4 1 s to £4 7s, store bullocks £5 9s Gd, heifers L 3 15s, springers £4 to £5, backward heifers £3 ss. Store cows at £3 14s were below the reserve. 15 months heifers, good quality, £2 10s. Sheep—Good hoggets 13s, cull empty ewes 8s 6d. For pork pigs there was a better demand and satisfactory prices ruled. Large porkers and baconers 30s to 34s Gd, smaller 20s to 25s Gd. Stores, medium inquiry, went back unsold. At Levin a full yarding of stock came forward, and bidding was .good throughout the sale. There was keen competition for hoggets, and they sold readily at advanced prices. At Colyton the advertised amount of stock came to hand, in spite of the rough weather, and a good clearance was made at recent quotations. At Danevirke, there was only a small yarding, and all the stock changed hands at satisfactory prices. At Palmerston there was an exceptionally large entry of cattle, nearly 900 head being offered for sale. Bidding was not as spirited as last week, although a good clearance was made. Most of the backward heifers had to be turned out unsold. Sheep came forward in advertised numbers, and a clearance was made in this department. At Levin—Forward bullocks L 5 18s, 2 year steers £4 Is Gd to L 4 ss, springing heifers £5 to L 5 13s, springing cows L 5 to L 7, heifers in calf L 3 15s to L 3 17s Gd, empty cows L2 17s Gd to L 3 ss, empty heifers L2 16s, weaners and yearlings L2 3s Gd. Sheep—Hoggets 11s lOd to 13s Id, fat and forward ewes 13s, fat ewes 14s 3d, ewes and lambs 14s Gd.
At Colyton—Heifers in calf L 4 12s, 2J year steers L 4 4s, weaners LI 7s, yearling steers L2 6s, fat ewes 12s Gd, hoggets 11s Gd, forward ewes 10s 9d, stores ewes 9s Gd.
At Danevirke— 2\ and 3-yr steers £4 to £5, 3£-yr do. £5 10s, yearlings £2 10s, weaners £2, springing cows £5 15s, fat and forward wethers 15s to lGs sd, fat and for\vard ewes 12s Id, store ewes 10s. At Palmerston —Fat bullocks £8 7s Gd, light bullocks £7 7s Gd, 3 and 4-yr do. £5 7s Gd, 3-yr steers £5 2s, do. £4 7s Gd, yearlings and 18-mo. do. £2 17s Gd, yearling do. £2 148, mixed yearlings £2 Gs to £2 10s, weaners 2Gs Gd to 37s Gd, fat cows £4 178 Gd, springing heifers £4 lls to £5 6s, springing cows £5 to £6. Fat and forward wethers 15s 3d, ewes with lambs at foot 18s 4d, hoggets 10s 3d to 10s 9d.
