The Boer War.
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) LONDON, April 30. Dr. H. W. De Beaufort, Minister for Foreign Affairs at Holland, sounded Europe at Mr Fischer’s instance, and has informed Mr Fischer that his mission was a failure. The Boer peace delegates start for America on Thursday. The Times and Staiidard Washington correspondents anticipate that President M‘Kinley will favor a pro-Boer utterance with a view to catching votes, but Mr Fischer will grievously err in imagining that the party in America will ever take action. Brigadier-General Brabant is advancing on Ladybrand. The recent explosion at Johannesburg was really at Begbie and Holman’i engineering foundry, which was being used as a Government arsenal. Thirty were killed and 54 injured. William Begbie, son of the principal of the firm, has been arrested on suspicion of causing the explosion, as revenge for the affront in being compelled to manufacture munitions of war for the Boers.
