Per Press association.) Wellington, This day Four applications have been received by the City Council for mining leases in the Karori reservoir reserve, just outside tho town. One prosp(C L is said to have given over 2oz to the ton. Maoy years ago a fair quantity of alluvial gold was found in the creek at Baker’s Hill and tl e exi._ten< e of a reef w..s snßpect J, bat -jver found. The prospectors, who have been at work for some time now, think they have hit upon this reof. The Council has instructed their engineer to report how tho reservoir is likely to be affected before granting the leases.
