TAKAPAU.
(OWN CORRESPONDENT) I am informed that the laying of the foundation stone of tho new Roman Catholic Chapel here will take place about the middle of the month.
The County engineer and the Road Board chairman visited various parts of the township on Tuesday; and I have no doubt onr long talked of draining scheme U within a measurable distance. Influenza seems to have had a freeh dart, 88 there are about five now cases this week.
Your respected townsman got on the *Tong track in Tuesday’s Herald. I hope you felt proud of me when l was characterised by such an old hand as being filling like keen. I feel proud to that we have a few smart Khere, but I do not think I could iany so smart as to trot out one totn’B as evidence against Wother’e. The Road Board notice, which supposed to show my weakness, was Written by a friend of the Waipawa cortenpondent; and fortunately, or unfortunately, I have not yet had that honor. *ou readers will therefore see that there * a possibility of being too smart. The Surveyor-General and party have teen here two days, making visits to the fUtions. Whether there is any possibility any or either o f the runs being cut do not know ; but it was an open |*Wret at election time that if—so and so—- |^ 0r tw° of the runs hero would bo |“* en by the Government.
