Evading the Customs.

(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christchurch, This day At the Magistrate’s Court, this morning, R. C. Warnes, fishmonger, was charged with having in bis possession 317 cigars on which duty had not been paid. Accused admitted the offence. He was fined £SO with £4 costs. John Ashton, a publican of Lyttelton, was similarly charged, and was fined £25, costs £3 10s. The cigars in both cases were forfeited.
