REMARKABLE VOYAGES.
(daily news.) 'inere are at present m Liverpool two sailing vessels which have recently completed very remarkablo voyages. Not only did they leave the Mersey on the same day last year, and arrive at the same destination within twelve hours of each other, but they returned to Liverpool, reaching port the same day, having in the interim covered a distance of not less than 30,000 miles. The vessels are the Lorton and Cockermoath. Both left the Mersey on foe sth October last year for Astoria, Oregon, arriving at that port, one on the Ist March and the other on the 2nd. They had, however, been in company with each other for a good portion of the voyage—in fact, at one period of foe journey there were in sight for 40 days, and during this time the crews kept up an interchange of courtesies, crossing over from one ship to the other until an unfriendly breeze parted them. Both captains bad their wives ou board, aud during the forty days one of tbe captains and his wife took advantage of foe opportunity and dined on a Sunday on board foe other’s vessel, the visit being returned on the following Sunday by the other commander and his lady. Both vessels left Astoria on foe Bth Apnl, but this time their destinations were different, the Lovton being bound for Dunkerque, and the Cockermouth to Havre. They again arrived at their destinations-about foe same time, however, the Cockermouth at Havre on the 18th of August, i»nd foe Lorton on the 22nd at Dunkerque. They liofo left the French ports on the 9th September for Liverpool, and passed Holyhead at the same time, entering tbe Mersey almost side by side. The vessels were 342 days out.
