Danevirke R.M. Court.
A Maori named Mini Tautahi was arrested on Monday night by Constable Lawliss for larceny from a dwelling of a white counterpane, valued at 16s 6d. He was brought before the local Justices, J. H. Clayton and W. H. Hawkins, J’s.P. On the charge being interpreted to him, he pleaded guilty. The Court inflicted a fine of 40s, costs 7s, witnesses ss, interpreter’s fee IQs.—The fine and costs paid. On the following day, before J. H. Clayton and W. J. Knight, J’s.P.; Edward Mason charged with drunkenness, was fined 58 and 2s cost. On a further charge of using abusive and insulting language, was fined 5s and cohts 2s ; fine and costs paid. James Reardon, charged with asaulting John Crossland on Saturday night last. Fined 10s, costs 10s, witness 7s. Fine and costs paid.
