PLOUGHING MATCH ASSOCIATION.

A general meeting of the Waipawa County Ploughing Match Association was held on Wednesday evening, in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Waipawa. There was a fair attendance of the public. Mr D. Guy was voted to the chair, and, having read the notice in the Mail convening the meeting, called upon the secretary to read the minutes of the last meeting, which were confirmed as read. The secretary then stated that owing to an omission on the part of those constituting the last general meeting, no auditors were appointed to certify to the accounts. These accounts, however, had been passed by the committee after examination, and if any person required further information, all the books and papers were on the table. A rather animated discussion took place over this statement, in which Messrs Gow, Harker, Robb, and the secretary joined. It was finally resolved that the statement of accounts as adopted by the committee, which showed a credit balance of £4(5 17s 6d, be confirmed. Two letters from the secretary of the 1T.8.A. and P. Association were read—one asking the committee to hold the County match before the date fixed upon by the Hawke’s Bay Association for their match, and the next stating that the Hawke’s Bay Association would not hold a match meeting this year, but would instead give a cup value £lO 10s to be a special prize to the winner in the champion class at the Waipawa meeting. The secretary was instructed to write thanking the Association for their offer. The following gentlemen were then nominated as a committee, and on the motion of Mr Robb, seconded by Mr Bishop, were elected :—Messrs Gow, Scrimgeour, Robb, Corskie, Peebles, Jones, Dillon, Watts, White, Loudon, McGreevy, R. Halliburton, Gaisford, Logan, and Baker. Mr R. Monteith was elected secretary and treasurer, his salary to be fixed by the committee, and Messrs Ewen and Goldsmith were elected auditors. At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee met and decided that the next meeting should take place at the Empire Hotel, Waipawa, on Friday next, May 4th, at 8 p.m.
