WAIPAWA ATHLETIC SPORTS.

Pursuant to advertisement, a meeting was held yesterday evening in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Waipawa, to make the necessary arrangements for holding the annual athletic sports. Dr. Todd occupied the chair. The secretary, Mr A. Corskie, read the balance-sheet, showing a balance of £l4 on hand. Mr A. Peebles moved that the meeting proceed to form a permanent club to carry on the sports. It was moved as an amendment that the sports for this year be carried on in the usual way. The amendment and the motion were put to the meeting. The voting being equal for each, the Chairman gave his casting vote in favour of the motion, which was therefore carried.

Nearly all present enrolled themselves as members of the club.

At a meeting of the Club held immediately afterwards, Mr A. Corskie was elected secretary, and Mr A. Peebles treasurer. The following members were chosen a committee to carry out the sports for the present year : Messrs Robb, Corskie, A. Peebles, McKenzie, Cosgrove, Coe, and G. Peebles.

Arrangements were made to have a ball as usual on the evening of the sports.
