COMMERCIAL.

Messrs Hoadley and Lyon report a full attendance at their weekly sale of wool and skins, held at Napier on Saturday. Bidding was spirited, and considering the quality of the lots offered, prices obtained were highly satisfactory. About 650 skins were catalogued, and all passed the hammer, realising as follows :—Merino, good, 5d to s id, sid, and Gd per lb ; ditto, medium and short, 3d, 3\d, 4d, and 4Jd; cross-bred, good, 4d, s£d, and 5d ; ditto, short and inferior, 2d 2|d, and 3d ; ditto, pelts, IJd and 2d per lb ; 5 bales greasy wool from 4ld to s}d per lb ; 3 bales locks, 2d to 2id per lb ; hides, 6s to lls each. H. Monteith's weekly report:— Horses—At the bazaar, Napier, on Saturday, a considerable number were yarded, of which a greater proportion than usual changed hands, owing, no doubt, to an increasing disposition on the part of sellers to meet buyers. There is a good demand for young and sound light harness horses, and also for medium draughts. Unbroken horses of either of these descriptions would sell well. I quote the following prices : Heavy draughts, £35 to £4O ; medium do, £25 to £3O ; light harness, £l4 to £lB ; strong useful hacks, £9 to £ll ; light hacks, £6 to £8 ; weedy, aged, and inferior, dull of sale at £3 to £5. Produce—Potatoes, £8 ; maize, 3s 6d ; oats, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; hay, unthreshed, £5 10b per ton ; do, good threshed, £4 per ton.
