IN MEMORIAM.
(to the editor of the waipawa mail.) Sir, —And it came to pass in Waipawa there was lamentation, weeping, and great sorrow, “ Ben Machree” weeping for his nephew “ Thomas,” and would not be comforted, “ because he had lost the number of his mess.” Then came his friends and communed with him, and said, “ Why weepest thou, O ‘ Ben Machree ’; arise, and thy friends will cheer thee, for thou hast by thy mighty power 6orely wounded that “ Old Volunteer” who so heartlessly assassinated thy poor nephew.” “ Dear as thy nephew was to thee ; Though he is gone he liveth still in memory ; Arise, O 1 Ben,’ and comfort take ! Arise, O ‘ Ben,’ for our dear sake 1” And it came to pass in progress of time that u Ben” revived, and stood upon his head ; and all the great men, and all the mighty men, and all the u amateurs” rejoiced exceedingly, shaking their heads, and saying alas! alas! for this great “ Machree, 1 ’ for what “ Machree” can be likened unta BEN MACHREE
