Success of Primary School’s Annual Fancy Dress Party

IT MADE UP FOR LAST YEAR

Last year the children of the Cambridge Primary School were disappointed—their much-looked-for fancy dress party had to be cancelled because of the health restrictions. However, full amends were made this year when the annual function was held in the town hall on Friday.

The teachers, committee and mans other willing helpers spared nc effort to make the gathering a memorable one, and they were fulls rewarded by the obvious enjoyment of the children. ‘ ' The afternoon was devoted ’to- the tiny tots, with Miss V. Methven in charge. In their varied array of gay and realistic characterisations, the classes performed dances they had learnt at school, these being delightfully executed. The older pupils had their turn in the eyening when Mr B. Wallis was M.C. Later the public were invited to join in the dancing, and altogether this year’s party was voted one of the best on record. A large band of ladies, with Mrs A. N. deL. Willis as convener, experienced a busy time providing refreshments for children and parents. The supper room was artistically decorated by,Mrs L. Hanna, Mrs C. V. Colchester and Miss Judy Hanna. Appreciation of the great amount of work put in by the teachers and all helpers was expressed during the evening by Mr A. N. deL. Willis, the chairman of the school committee.
