GROUND IMPROVEMENTS
THE CAMBRIDGE SCHOOLS.
MORE ROOM FOR SPORT.
The headmaster, Mr S. B. Dunn, reported to the April meeting of the Cambridge School Committee on Monday night that the new lawn behind the primary school was making excellent growth. The grounds had been improved also by the clearing of the front and the planting of seed beds. It was stated that satisfactory arrangements had been made for a local farmer to remove the gum trees at the high school to provide for extra tennis and basketball courts. Mr Dunn intimated that no further advice had" been received concerning the extra rooms at the High School, and it appeared there had been a delay in the calling of tenders. He mentioned that the prefabricated rooms for the primary school were being made in Auckland as quickly as possible. In view of the approach of winter, the committee decided to write to the board requesting that the installation of coal heaters at the primary department be expedited. Messrs S. B. Dunn, C. E. Hargraves and A. D. Bluck were appointed to represent the committee at tonight’s meeting in connection with proposals for a war memorial in Cambridge.
