WEDDING BELLS CUNNINGHAM— REID On Saturday, March 6, a pretty wedding took place at St Andrew s Presbyterian Church, Claudelands, when Marian Frances, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Fulton Cunningham, was wedded to Athol Jack Reid, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Reid, of Pukerimu, Cambridge. The Rev. Colin McKenzie, of Cambridge, performed the ceremony, and Mr Apthorpe played the wedding music. The churcn was effectively decorated in shades ot lemon and scarlet. The bride, who entered the churcn on the arm of her father, looked charming in a heavily embossed creme satin gown, cut on slim fitting lines, and featuring a fan-shaped scalloped train, the heart shaped neckline and sleeves being also finished with scallops. Her beautifully embroidered tulle veil, was held in place with a halo of orange blossom, and fell to form a second train. She carried a shower bouquet ofi creme' roses, lilies and fern. Maiding the bride were Miss Valerie Tarr (cousin of the bride) and Miss Jean Reid (sister of the bridegroom) while little Valerie King (cousin of the bride) was a dainty flower girl. They were frocked alike in lemon silhouette organdie, cut on princess lines, with heart shaped scalloped necklines and sleeves. In their hair they wore • coronets of red roses and the bridesmaids bouquets were of red roses and maiden-hair fern, while the little flower girl carried a basket of red roses.
After the ceremony, a reception was held at the “Wintergardens,” Hamilton, where the floral decorations were again carried out in shades of lemon and scarlet. Mrs F. Cunningham received her guests, frocked in an ensemble of black silk, relieved with a scarlet shoulder spray. Mrs Reid, the groom’s mother, assisted wearing a suit of black, worn with a toning shoulder spray. ' • When the happy couple left by car on their honeymoon the bride was wearing a pink model frock, a cream travelling coat and navy accessories. Their future home will be at Tuakau. WELCOME HOME PARTY EVENING AT KAIPAKI Kaipaki Hall was the scene of much festivity recently when a “welcome home” was held by the hall committee in honour of Mr Oscar Lynds and his bride, whose marriage recently took place. Mr Ken Knudson, chairman of the hall committee, when on behalf of the district he presented to Mr Lynds, a substantial cheque in honour of his marriage and in appreciation of his overseas service, referred to the wounds which Mr Lynds had sustained while "on active service and which had prevented him from returning home until a later date. Mr Knudson added that it was with much happiness and goodwill that the large crowd had gathered to extend to him and his bride a very warm “welcome home.” Mr Lynds expressed his sincere appreciation of the tribute paid him and his bride and returned thanks. Musical honours were then accorded them. Mrs 0. Lynds wore a smart frock of powder blue,,with matching shoulder spray. Novelty dances were won by Mr Brian Tarr and Miss E. Parks, and by Mr Geo. Reid and Miss Jean DougThe winners of the “500” drive, were Mrs G. Douglas and Mrs Wall. A very dainty supper was served by the ladies committee.

PERSONALS Mrs Seton Otway left Auckland by “Skymaster” on Wednesday for Sydney where she will spend three weeks holiday. *** * . EVENING AT LYCEUM CLUB. FOR MISS BETTY ROSS. The Lyceum Club on Tuesday evening last was the scene of a vfery enjoyable gift evening, which Mrs Martyn Mayston hostessed for Miss Betty Ross, whose marriage to Mr Rob. Peake takes place at St. Andrew’s on April 3. Flowers in soft shades of pink and lilies, dahlias, zinnias and greenery, had been used to decorate the lounge, and presented a charming effect. Mrs Mayston wore sequined black Wool crepe to receive her guests. She was assisted by Miss Shirley Hicks who wore a pretty frock of soft green, white and cerise shadings. The guest of honour looked charming in a becoming frock of periwinkle blue pleated moss crepe, worn with a shoulder spray of deep pink rosebuds, I A very interesting “shop guessing” competition was won by Miss Betty j Graham and a “word building” com- . petition by Mrs Bill Scott.
