AT THE CAMBRIDGE TROTS

WET WEATHER'S EFFECT ON FASHIONS Overcast skies and drizzling rain, somewhat dampened the. enthusiasm of many lady patrons, at the Cambridge Trotting Club's Autumn meeting on Saturday. For the most part raincoats and umbrellas were very much in evidence, while smart frocking, ensembles with the "new look," were practically, as far as I could see, almost non-existent. The trend for longer skirts is gradually being followed by Cambridge women, but only as far as the "London line." The exaggerated length, of 8 to 10 inches from the ground, so far is not proving as popular as dress manufacturers hoped it would be! Owing to the inclemency of the weather, the meeting was not as well patronised by lady enthusiasts, as in former years, but among those I noticed on the lawn were:— Mesdames M. Wells, T. H. Hampshire, A. H. Nicoll, A. J. Law, A. M. Fisher, P. Skousgaard, W. 0. Cubis, Ken Butler, W. Godfrey, E. Bradburn, G. Cleland, Kelson Butler, T. Kent, J. D. Clemow, W. J. Wheeler, M. V. Halford, W.
