Bible Lessons for Children of the Cambridge District.

ANSWER THESE AT HOME

Through the * Auckland Sunday School Union, the following home lessons are made available for the children of Cambridge, including the outlying districts. Where there are answers, these should be written out and posted to Sunday School teachers. Each Sunday School will hold an exhibition of the work received when schools re-open.

FOR INTERMEDIATES AND JUNIORS (Ages 9-13) Jesus—The Friend of an Outcast: One day Jesus went to a party in the house of a rich man, Simon. Although He had been invited, He was hot really greeted with true Jewish hospitality. Jesus said nothing at the time, but our story shows that He noticed the rather unfriendly atmosphere. As the guests lay on low couches round the dining table, an uninvited , visitor came in through the open door. She was not a good woman, and Simon and his guests were probably J horrified that she should dare to come among decent people, although it was not unusual for outsiders to come in , to watch a feast. . ' > Now Jesus knew this woman, and, she knew and loved Him. They had met before.' We know nothing about ; that meeting, but we do know that it had so awakened love and penitence in her heart that she brought with her the most precious gift she had—a vase of perfume, which she broke and poured over the feet of her Beloved Friend. Read the story in Luke's Gospel, chapter 7. We all know how many wrong things there are in our Jives, and Jesus knows too, but we all have something precious that we can bring to Him, Who loves even the wosst of sinners ? Expression Work—1. Draw the table with the reclining guests round it. 2. Model an Eastern house. 4 V Name three things Simon neglected to do for Jesus.' I , FOR THE LITTLE ONES Helping Hungry People.—" May I take my lunch and go for a picnic today?" David asked his mother one bright morning. "My friend Mark giHHiiiiiil iiminniiimiiiiiii lillHllinillltllllllHlll

told me he heard that Jesus would be on the hillside beside the sea today and he wants me to go with him." "Yes!" said his mother, as she packed up a lunch of five loaves and two fishes for him. When the two boys arrived at the top of the hill, they looked down and saw a crowd of people. "Come on," said David, "let us go down there. Jesus is talking to them." Everybody listened carefully while Jesus told them about God and His love. After Jesus had been speaking for some time He noticed that the people' were tired and hungry. Some had come a long way. Jesus wanted to give them food. The disciples said: "How can we feed them? We cannot buy food here." David came up to Jesus and handed over his lunch to Him, saying that He could have it. ' 1 Jesus thanked David and told the people to sit down on the grass. What a big crowd of men, women and children! Then He took the food and thanked God for it. He broke it up, and handed it to the disciples to pass on to the hungry people. David had helped Jesus by sharing his lunch: What a happy boy went home that day! His mother, too, was happy because David had been such a kind little helper. Something For You To Do. 1. Something to learn: — "Thank you, Heavenly Father," The little children sing.
