UNBROKENS AT CAMBRIDGE HORSE FAIR
FIRST DAY’S ACTIVITIES The annual spring horse fair opened at Cambridge yesterday, and will continue for the remainder of the week. The total offering is to be sold under the hammer by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, and comprises 650 horses of all classes.
the sale opened yesterday the unbroken draughts were in keen demand, prices for anything of quality being up £5 or £6 on last year. Three and four year medium draughts brought from £ls to £lB, and good lighter sorts made from £8 to £l2. Poorer quality animals were sold at from £4 to £6. The entry _ of unbrokens was smaller than usual. .» An entry of four useful unbrokens offered by Mr Ritchie .Hannon, sold at an average of £l7/10/-. Lighter horses offered* yesterday attracted attention, and bidding was keen for anything with breeding behind it. Two and three year old unbroken hacks made from £l2 to £2l. Lesser soi’ts brought from £5 to £B. A brown mare by St..Wave, offered on account of A. M. Fisher sold for £26/10/-. Broken draughts will be offered today, and as well as consignments from district breeders, there will be offerings fi'om Mr J. T. Wright, of Kaiapoi, and Messrs M. and T. Moore, of Rakaia.
