Annual Ladies v. Men Match

CAMBRIDGE GOLF CLUB AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON The day devoted to the annual Ladies v. Men match has become a social, event on the calendar of Cambridge Golf Club. In ideal weather, this,year's fixture was held on Saturday, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent on the links. The ladies won by 20 matches to 17, with 9 all square. Results were'as follows;

White, 1 up; R. H. Feisst beat Mrs E. J. White, 3 and 2; J. W. Jeans lost to Miss Wilkie, 1 down; R. E. A. Newcombe lost to Miss J. Sayers 3 and 1; R. MacDonald beat Mrs T. McLennan, 2 and 1; H. Davys lost to Miss J. Fisher, 1 down; M. Weatherell lost to Mrs J. Blackman, 1 down; G. F. Johnston lost to Miss B. Bourke, 2 down; D. R. Allen and Miss J. Low, all square. The Cambridge Handicap.

The final of the Cambridge Handicap is to be contested between R. Calvert and W. Ryan and an even match should result. Both have been playing consistently well, and have beaten several good players to reach the final. In the semi-finals, Calvert beat A. Feisst 3 and 2 and Ryan beat G. W. Allen by a similar margin. Ryan will have to concede Calvert 7 strokes.

Barclay Farquhar played his best round to date on the Cambridge links at the week-end, his card reading 77-9-68. Included in his score were birdies at the sixth and 15th. holes. With 37 points, Farquhar won the afternoon stableford "scramble." A "Blood" Match. Much interest was taken in the match at the week-end when E. J. F. Kennedy and D. J. Lundon challenged D. McCathie and G. Watt. Although in receipt of 14 strokes and aided by good caddies, the challengers were beaten 1 down. The caddies, R. Ireland and D. E. Creed, were not greatly impressed with the standard of play of the men whose clubs thjs; carried. Soldiers/ Memorial Cup. The first round of the Soldiers' Me-' morial Cup, a 36-hole net medal competition will be played next Saturday. This handsome cup, which is now on its way from England has been provided by the club to perpetuate the names of club members who gave their lives in World War 11.
