RED CROSS V.A.D.’s » ELECTION OF OFFICERS There. was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Cambridge Voluntary Aid Detachment of the Red Cross. The Centre Commandant, Mrs F. H. Lambe, of Hamilton, presided for the election of officers, which resulted:— Commandant, Miss V. Appleby (reelected); assistant commandant, Miss K. Fisher (re-elected); lady superintendent, Mrs M. Gerring; quarter master, Miss B. Hooper (re-elected); head section leader, Miss F. Johnson; section leader 1., Miss J. King; section leader 11., Miss M. Cornwall; transport leader, Miss C. Moore. Mrs Lambe congratulated the detachment on their membership and activities and also their room. She thoroughly explained the running of a detachment and duties of the vari - ous officers and how the members could work themselves up through the different position to the top as centre commandant. This was all very enlightening and encouraging to new members.

Mrs E. Kenny, the Red Cross Presi-

dent, read the V.A. balance sheet and congratulated the detachment on its past year’s activities and especially on the recent shop day when the sum of £lO 9s. was raised. Also present were Mrs Pegg, Junior Red Cross organiser, Miss Edna House, Centre V.A.D. secretary, and Miss K. Smith, Hamilton, transport driver.
