ANOTHER SEASON AT HAND CAMBRIDGE OPENING Another season is at hand and the district clubs are busy preparing l their courts and generally bringing the appointments up-to-date. With the war over all clubs should experience much increased membership. Old members, who have been overseas or in the Forces for several years are assured of hearty welcomes on their fetum to their respective clubs. Cambridge Club. The Cambridge Club held the official opening on Saturday last when there were about 100 members and friends present. The club's president, Mr J. Haworth, welcomed all present. He wished all members and intending members a very happy season! Mrs Haworth played the first ball, after which Mr Haworth declared.the courts open for the new season. ■ '■•"■ A progressive tournament was held and the .winners of the doubles play were Mr S. Reilly and Miss J- Cumniing. After the tournament members indulged in friendly games. The ladies provided a delightful afternoon tea and with the weather fine, an enjoyable opening was the experience. The club's membership is about 120 an increase of 30 on last year. Quite a few returned men are coming back to the club. ROTO-O-RANGI CLUB COMMITTEE ELECTED (Own Correspondent) A meeting of the Roto-o-rangi Tennis Club was held on Tuesday last to discuss plans for the coming season. A committee was elected as follows: President, Mr Drew Clow; secretary, Miss D. Campin; club captain, Mr J. Wallis; committee, Mrs L. A. Duncan, Mr T. Wallis. It was decided that as they had a substantial balance in hand, to invest in some new equipment. ,Also that the members form a "working bee" on Saturday next to clean up the courts, the club to hold the opening day as soon as the courts are ready.
