WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT RECOMMENDATIONS ADOPTED At the monthly meeting of the Borough Council last week the Works Committee resolved to make the following recommendations to the council, and they were adopted: Cemetery.—That 17 new grave pilots on the disused roadway in the. cemetery, be pegged out and made available. The fescue in the cemetery be dug out and destroyed and the delapidated wooden fences around old graves be removed. The foreman interview the manager of the Gambridgie Transport Company, Ltd.; in connection with the removal of the large macrocarpa tree growing on the company’s property ‘in Wilson Street, which is hiding the sun from the road in the vicinity. The borough solicitor be instructed to obtain from Messrs Matos and Segedin, lessees of Pt. Section 585 and all of' 586, *. Municipal reserves, the writen legal authority for the council to enter upon this land and remove therefrom shingle and sand which this committee considers suitable for concrete and .general street work. The overgrown rockery in the vicinity of Mrs Souter’s residence be demolished. That trees and shrubs growing on the property owned by the Bank of New South Wales, and overhanging the footpath of Alpha Street, be trimmed back by the bank. Notice to be sent to the bank by the town clerk. Site For State Houses. ’ That when visiting Cambridge, the Land Purchase Officer, representing the State Housing Department be asked to inspect that area of land 6wned by the estate of Elizabeth Taylor, in Alpha Street, with" a view to purchasing the section as a site for State houses.
