MONAVALE DANCE PROCEEDS TO HALL FUND The muds of the Monavale Hall benefited considerably last week, when a danceVas held. Thanks are due to Mrs MiHsMi for organising the music for which was much enjoyed by thosiNpresent. The Monte Cario was won by Mrs Fancy and partner. 'N v ROTO-O-RANGI institute MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Roto-o-rangi Women’s Institute was held in the local hall. The president, Mrs Wakefield, extended a cordial welcome to members and a new member was enrolled. After the busiuess of the meeting was concludedAnembers entertained the committee, Mrs F. Cleland being chairwoman for the occasion. Mrs Cleland announced a “bird” competition and Mrs Dahlberg secured the prize. The roll call, “children’s quaint sayings,” proved most entertaining. Mrs Cleland was responsible for the following motto: . “Smile every morning until 10 o’clock —the rest of the day will look after itself. Mrs H. Martin, read an interesting letter from the Middle East. Two minute talks on interesting subjects r followed by an article entitled “Man and the Soil,” read by Mrs > Dillon, concluded the programme. The wandering shilling passed to Miss Gwen Perrott. The awards in the competitions judged by Mrs J. Kelly and Miss Fay Nickle were as follows: Pikelets, Mrs Wakefield-1, Mrs J. W. Peake 2, Mrs L.
