I The accident occurred about 9.30 when Mr Bennett was coming to Cambridge. He was travelling slowly, having just negotiated the corner when he was surprised to see the hare apear in mid-air above the bonnet of the car and coming straight towards him. He closed his eyes and pushed on the break. The next instant there wa> a crush and when Mr. Bennett recovered from the shock the hare was lying on the bottom of the car dead, and blood was streaming from the driver's face.v. There was plenty of evidence of tMs when the "Independent" representative saw Mr Bennett, v ,i', Such was the? impact that the wind screen (not shatterless) was smashed for over'i half its' length. A natural impulse, it was fortunate that the driver closed his eyes, or he might have been blinded by the flying glass. When we saw Mr Bennett after first aid treatment in Cambridge, he had several pieces of plaster covering the cuts of his face. It was also fortunate that he had the presence of mind to promptly apply the brakes of the car. Value of Shatterless Glass. This accident clearly demonstrates the value of shatterless glass in the windscreen of any car. Mr Bennett's car is an earlier model before this particular kind of windscreen was adopted in the. modern cars of to-day.
