KAIPAKI NOTES. HARVEST FESTIVAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A Harvest Festival Service wa: held in the Kaipaki Church on Sun day afternoon last. The Rev. C. W Chandler was the officiating Minis ter and Mr R. Boyce presided at tht organ. The gifts of flowers, l'rui and vegetables had been tastefully arranged by some of the ladies ol the congregation. There was also £ quantity of eggs donated by tht Sunday School children. These together with the produce, were sen! to St. Mary’s Home, Otahuhu. The Vicar gave a very appropriate addr'ess and bright harvest hymns were sung by a good congregation. At the close of the service the Vicar expressed his pleasure at the generosity of the gifts and thanked those

sudden death of the late Mr F. F:nley. Mrs Finley, the late Mr Finley, and their daughters had been active hiembers of the social life of Kaipaki during the time they had lived in Fukeriinu. HORAHORA-MAUNGATAUTARI INSTITUTE MEETING *

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Thursday last was the regular monthly meeting day of the flora- 1 hora-Maungatautari Women’s Insti- ( tutc. The damp day did not'appear to hinder the ladies’ attending as there was a good gathering in the Maungatautari Hall. Mrs J. A. Wallace presided, opening the meeting with the National -Anthem and the reading of the Institute creed. As this was the gathering’s annual meeting Mrs Wallace read a report of the year’s activities drawing attention to the necessity for reconstruction in every country, especially as it concerns women. “In reconstruction,” said Mrs Wallace, “women have a very large and vital part to play and should even now be active and alive to their obligations in this direction.” It was further pointed out that we must work harmoniously , for “no individual can live to himself.” Herein lie, to some extent, the Women’s Institute’s responsibilities and opportunities As the secretary read her report of last year’s annual meeting the members realised, with a sense of gratitude, that the threat of invasion by war has been greatly minimised during the 12 months just closed.t The treasurer gave a very clear and concise report of the financial side of activities and Mrs Burr reported a reserve fund on hand from < a special source. 4 The wandering shilling went to < Mrs Judd. j « New Committee.
