National Savings figures do not support this contention. The figures for November and December, 1943, were £640,000. compared, with the sum of £471,000 for the corresponding months in the previous year. This indicates," concluded Mr Smallwood, "that the people are continuing to support the pavings. Campaign as an essential part of our war effort in New Zealand and it is hoped that this vital year will show an even greater response in keeping with a the tremendous undertakings being planned bv the Allies."
