WIDELY KNOWN

LATE MR K. BRAMPTON TALENTED ACTOR Mr Kenneth Brampton, who died in Cambridge on Sunday, was well known throughout l!ie Empire for his achievements in theatrical companies and the films. During the last 25 years he visited New Zealand with most of J. C. Williamson's best-known companies, including "Charley's Aunt," in which he played the title role. Besides appearing in most parts of the British Empire, Mr Kenneth Brampton also performed in China and Japan. He was closely connected with many famous Australian films, both as a producer and actor. One of the films he directed and produced was " Robbery Under Arms," in which he played the leading role. Some other films he appeared in were: "The Dingo," "Typhoon Treasure," "Dad and Dave," and his last film, "Forty Thousand Horsemen."

Mr Brampton was also well known in Australia as a broadcaster, being associated with Dorothy Brunlon, the Drury Lane artist. For several years Mr Brampton directed the Auckland Little Theatre Society, and while under him it was the • largest society of its kind in the British Empire.

Mr Brampton came to Cambridge a few months ago. and was manager of the Tudor Theatre until his death.
