HOME GUARD

DISTRICT COMMANDERS COLONEL M. ALDRED FOR i AUCKLAND When the Cambridge Auxiliary Reserve Company is transferred to the Home Guard shortly, it will be included in the Auckland District Command which has just been formed. Colonel M. Aldred, V.D., has been appointed District Commander. He served in Egypt and Palestine and his highest rank was temporary major? He was in the Territorial Force from 1908 to 1934 and commanded the Ist Auckland Mounted Rifles and the Ist New Zealand Mounted Rifle Brigade, his highest rank being colonel. The commanders of the other three districts will be Colonel R. St. J. Beere, D.S.O. (Wellington), Major G. E. F. Kingscote (Christchurch), and Lieutenant-Colonel A. S. B. Smith, E.D. (Dunedin).
