LOSS OF EQUIPMENT
CAMBRIDGE POWER BOARD AFFECTED SHIPMENT NOT ARRIVED The effect of shipping disrupted as a result of the war, was shown at Wednesday night’s meeting of the Cambridge Electric Power Board, when a letter was received from Messrs - Turnbull and Jones, Limited, stating that a shipment of Moffat ranges had been lost at sea. It was intimated that difficulty was being experienced also in obtaining spare parts for ranges. The chairman, Mr M. Wells, said that the board could only receive the letter, and express regret at the circumstances. To an enquiry by a member, the engineer, Mr H. C. Oaten, stated that a number of motors on order had been lost as well. The board was short of motors, he said, and as a result a check had been made on all motors that were not in use. A number of motors that had been discarded were collected and had been sent to Hamilton to be rewound. Several members of the board initmated that they had old motors which could be used in an emergency, and the board agreed to ask all consumers to make it known if they had motors which could be used.
