XVIII. CAMPBELL, Duncan. Born in Scotland in 1823, Duncan Campbell arrived with his wife at Dunedin in the “City of Dunedin” on that ship’s maiden voyage in 1863. Mrs Campbell was born in. Perthshire in 1836. Mr Campbell was engaged in goldmining in Otago, and was afterwards' employed by Sir George Grey for a time, before coming to Cambridge in 1869. Their family of five included: Hugh Campbell, of Timaru; Walter Campbell, Alexander Campbell, Mrs Janet Simmons, and Mrs Agnes McFarlane, all of Cambridge. Duncan Campbell was 84 when he died in 1907. His wife, Agnes Balfour Campbell, lived to be four years older and died in 1924.
