THE HAWKE CUP MANAWATU BEAT WAIKATO 1 . ;\ After holding the Hawke Cup for two seasons, Waikato lost the trophy to Manawatu in a match that was marred by rain. v On the first c day Waikato batted fairly well to knock up 118 on a difficult wicket. Conditions improved when Manawatu commenced their innings and reached a total of 168 runs. Waikato’s second innings yielded only 70 runs and Manawatu had no difficulty in securing the 20 runs required for a win. J. D. Bright, the Cambridge representative in the Waikato team, provided a smart knock which produced 25 runs in the first inniqgs, and he scored 10 runs in the second innings.
