FURTHER TESTS

NEW POWER HOUSE SITE SPECIALIST AT KARAPIRO Nothing is being left undone by the Public Works Department in the tests that are being carried out at Karapiro, where there is the likelihood of a huge power station being erected on the Waikato River. At the present time detailed investigation is being undertaken, at the proposed site by Mr Mondriniak, a geophysicist of the Investigation and Scientific Research Department. Mr Mondriniak is considerably experienced in the causes of movement and warpings in the earth, and came from Austria to join the Department about ten years ago.

With the aid of modern equipment, Mr Mondriniak will make searching investigation into the likelihood of any change in the nature of the earth formation in future years. Tests made of the rock in the locality have already proved satisfactory.
