THE WOOL Market

prospects FOR SEASON CONSIDERABLY IMPROVED TONE After the really poor returns of the past wool-selling season, with a Dominion, average of only Old a lb, it is pleasing to see some prospects for a better season to come. The excellent realisations at the July crutrhings sales brought home to growers that a considerable improvement had come to the market. The Wellington sales average price was within a Od a lb of the Dominion average wool price for the whole season. In Auckland fleece wool sold to lHd a lb.

At the July series in London good average New Zeatand fleece wools, crossbred types, sold at lOfd to lHd a lb, which equals 1/a lb at a New eZalland sale. This series showed a good advance on. that of May. hTe next London selling will be in September, opening on the 19th. The Australian season is now (pen, and three months away is the evening of our own season. Raw wool stocks the world over are well down, so the board is clear for new wool. A slightly greater supply will be available this season principally because of improved conditions in Australia where an added 176,500 bales, or 6 per cent, is expected; but this should not dampen values in the face of cleared stocks.

hTe outlook altogether is quite cheerful, though no "fireworks" should be expected.
