MILITARY FUNERAL

THE LATE JOHN L. SULLIVAN LARGE GATHERING OF EX-SERVICEMEN Returned soldiers, paying their last respects to a much-loved comrade, were largely represented at the funeral of the late Mr John Laurence Sullivan, on Thursday afternoon. Full military honours were accorded Private Sullivan, 12/4381, 6th Hauraki N.Z.E.F., for the last time. A service was held at St. Peter's Catholic Church by the Rev. Father Sheely, after which the cortege moved off slowly, with the Returned Soldiers marching at each side of the Union Jack-covered casket. From Lake Street, the procession continued in cars to the cemetery. The Returned Soldiers lined up on each side of the pathway, while the casket was carried to where Father Sheely performed the last rites. The "Last Post" was sounded by Mr W. Meanie.

The pall-bearers were Messx*s T. Worthing, W. Cuthbert, S. Main, .T H. Hampshire, E. T. Osborne and J. V. Richards.
