DICK SHEPPARD’S UNION

CONFERENCE AT CAMBRIDGE

A Peace Convention will be held in Cambridge on June 5 (the King’s Birthday), which prominent members of all peace organisations from all over the North Island, and as far south as Christchurch, will be attending. The Convention, which commences at 10 a.m., will be opened in St. Andrew’s Church with 30 minutes of /prayer for the peace of the world.

“The Bankruptcy of War” will provide the subject for discussion at the morning session. This will be presented under three heads, the economic, the ethical, and the spiritual arguments. The' greatest freedom for open discussion will be provided. In the afternoon the subject will be, “The Constructive Approach to. Peace.” This again will be presented from two standpoints, the secular and the Christian approach. In the evening there will be a public meeting at which the secretary of the Christian pacifist Society will deliver an address entitled “The Necessity of Pacifism.” Questions and open discussion will follow this address.
