THE REV. J. M. BEAUFORT WIDE EXPERIENCE WITH BOYS The Rev. Mr Beaufort has ha d wide experience in the teaching of young boys, for during the past four years he was headmaster of King*®School, one of the leading preparatory schools in the Dominion. His experience has been broadened and his methods modernised by a recent tour of England and Australia, during which he inspected overseas schools and studied the newest methods. Mr Beaufort is a New Zealander by birth, but he was educated in Ireland, his senior studies being completed at St. Andrew’s College, Dublin. After his Public School training Mr Beaufort entered Trinity College, Dublin, from where he graduated as Master of Arts. At this stage the declaration of War interrupted his studies. He enlisted with the Royal Flying Corps for active service in France, and served in the air . for four years, attaining the rank of captain. After demobilisation Mr Beaufort returned to his studies, and having decided upon the Church as his career, he entered Wells Theological College, Somerset. Two years later he completed his studies, and was ordained Deacon and Priest by the Rt. Rev. Bishop H. L. Paget in Chester Cathedral. His first charge was that of the Northenden Parish, Manchester, where he remained for two years until 1922. Mr Beaufort then sailed for New Zealand and shoi’tly after arriving, he was inducted as first Vicar of the Hauraki Plains Parish. From parochial vicar Mr Beaufort became chaplain of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. It was after his naval service that Mr Beaufort became interested in teaching, and for three years he was chaplain of King’s College. From 3931 until the time of his recent tour he was?; headmaster of King’s Preparatory School.
