DATE BARS. Two whole eggs, 1 cup brown sugar, 3 cup flour, a teaspoon baking powder, l teaspoon salt, 1 cup (h package) of dates, 1 cup desiccated coconut, h cup chopped nut meats. Mix and sift the baking powder, salt and flour. Mix in the coconut or -mts and the dates, which have been pitted and cut into small pieces. Beat the eggs until foamy and then beat in the brown sugar gradually. Now stir in the dry ingredients. Spread in a well-greased cake pan to a depth of about half an inch. Bake in a moderate oven (350 deg. F.) 30 to 40 minutes. Cut in strips about four ■nehes long and one inch wide and remove from the pan while still warm.
