BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED

Miss Margaret Hicks, whose marriage is shortly to take place, was uoTightfully surprised on a recent evening by a number of her girl lmenus who gathered together with gilts and good wishes. Novelty games and fun filled in an all too snort evening. M.argaiTt was the recipient of pretty and useful gifts. The guest of honour was in a frock of checked marocaiu, while Miss K. Hicks wore brown figured silk crepe. Among friends present were: Airs J. T. Hicks, Misses Alarcie Hicks, Jessie Anderson. Effie Burns, Joan Hardy, Thorn Hardy, Pat Levesque, Hilda Dallimore, Jean Watt, Betty Sands, Hazel Robson, Ethel Sutcliffe, Fill Sutcliffe, AJarv Tucker and Gladys Broad. COMING-OF-AGE PARTY All- and Airs Heaslip,..of. Hail Street, entertained a few of their friends on Tuesday evening in honour of Fred Heaslip’s 21st birthday. The sittingroom 'whs attractively arranged with bowls of autumn flowers. Mrs Heaslip was wearing a pink crepe do chine frock. -The evening was spent in games and competitions. Those present were: Mesdames R. Ho Hie r, K. Heaslip, Hill (Te Amlin), A. Heaslip (To Arena)', A. O’Toole (Te Arolia), M. Baer, and Miss E. Baer. The men present were: D. Hill (Te Aruba), R. Hollier, K. Heaslip, G. Baer, W. Workman and G. Heaslip. Mrs Mcßride, who lias, taken an active part in social work in • Auckland for many years, is a member of the board of managers of the Seddon Alemorial Technical College.
